  • real time ultrasound imaging

Hesitant about doing an internal exam? No problem. While doing an internal exam is the most accurate way to assess the pelvic floor, real time ultrasound imaging can be used to look at your pelvic floor function externally and is still reliable. It can also be used to view the bladder to measure volume. Real time ultrasound can also ensure the correct activation of the abdominal muscles and measure diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and more.

  • surface emg biofeedback

Scientific research has shown that 60% of people do not contract the pelvic floor muscles properly. Surface EMG (electromyography) can be used internally or externally to teach proper contractions or for relaxation.

  • trigger point dry needling

Very thin dry needles (the same as acupuncture needles) are used to decrease pain in muscles that are not functioning properly. Trigger points are very tight knots in muscles that can be painful. Dry needling helps to decrease trigger points and restore movement and normal muscle function. This quick and effective tool can be used for chronic pain or acute pain and provide long-lasting relief. It can be used with or without electrical stimulation.

  • Visceral mobilization

A manual therapy-based treatment, this gentle yet effective hands-on technique can help to decrease pain, improve gastric motility, improve scar tissue, improve prolapse, improve diastasis recti, and more. This advanced treatment can be highly effective in restoring function and movement.

  • Medical Massage/Manual Therapy

Manual techniques are used to help decrease pain, relax muscles, restore muscle function, and decrease nerve pain. Unlike a general massage from a massage therapist that is focused on relaxation, a medical massage focuses on myofascial release, cupping technique, skin rolling, joint mobilizations, instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques, and more.

  • Pessary Fitting

A pessary is a device that can be specifically fit for your pelvic floor when there is a prolapse. A pessary can help to minimize symptoms of a prolapse. The type of prolapse and your medical or surgical history will determine the kind of pessary that you need.

  • Bloodflow Restriction training

Bloodflow restriction training consists of using cuffs to partially block blood flow to muscles which can allow them to improve strength gains quicker than traditional strength training. It must be done under supervision and special equipment used to measure limb occlusion pressure is monitored. This can allow strength gains at a low intensity, which is ideal for post-surgical situations and for those looking to improve strength in a less intense manner.
